RESQSKI Full Pack - Ski Finders

RESQSKI can find a lost ski buried up to a metre in snow and from as far away as 30 metres, using RF (radio frequency) technology.

We love the RESQSKI Full Pack! Off-piste skiers always fear to lose a ski. The ski planes under the powder and disappears in seconds. It can end up 10 metres away from where the skier falls and takes forever – or never – to retrieve the ski. It can ruin a day and, at best, disrupt the enjoyment of the rest of the ski group. RESQSKI can find a lost ski buried up to a metre in snow and from as far away as 30 metres!

RESQSKI works using RF (radio frequency) technology. A credit card–sized handheld transceiver communicates with specially developed homing tags that lead the skier to the lost ski using flashing lights and sonic beeps. The lights move from red to green and the beeps get ever louder and more frequent as the skier gets closer to the ski.

RESQSKI is composed of a handheld transceiver and two ski tags. The ski tags are attached to the ski, using a powerful adhesive and screws. Each tag is ‘registered’ to a specific numbered button on the Handheld so that your skis can be searched for individually by the Handheld.

We love LOKI! LOKI costs a fraction of a real system. If you hesitate to install a full security system, LOKI is cheap and easy to install... it's a sticker! It is a perfect temporary solution, if you are moving or afraid to leave in vacation for a weekend or a week during a period when insecurity increases in your vicinity. Even if there's nothing valuable at your home, who likes to have strangers messing around his place?

We love the WheeMe! First of all, it is a tiny and lovely robot, it looks good and everyone likes it. We have tried the WheeMe... Our kids and our friends have tried the WheeMe... everyone adopted it!
Some of us prefer the vibrating massage, others like the relaxation one, but our kids enjoyed the dancing massage, which makes them laughing all the time!
The WheeMe activates the nervous system through touch, vibration and caressing movement. The WheeMe really does massage you, when it turns its right and left wheels in opposite directions, it will soothe your back and release stress in a matter of minutes.
WheeMe stay on your back without falling or losing grip. Nevertheless, best is to enjoy the WheeMe in the centre of your bed or to lie on the floor, so if time to time, it falls, it will not break. When it falls, it stops and you put it back on your body and it restarts automatically to continue your 15 minutes massage session.

We love the SubPac! It gives us a full range, portable production solution anywhere, anytime. The SubPac allows us to feel the club level/intense bass, the game actions and the full movie soundtrack without noise complaints from anyone!
This is not a simple ‘vibration device.’ It’s more like a quiet, high-end sub-woofer that generates a dynamic, rich and accurate tactile representation of whatever sound we input – whether from our favorite tracks, games or movies.
Given that Producers and DJs have acclaimed the SubPac, that it produces a range of 5hz to 125hz, we are sure that the SubPac will convince the most skeptical very easily!

We love the Double! The robot itself is comprised of an ipad (not supplied), so you will benefit from Apple's approved technology, coupled with the simple and efficient concept of a robot!
We tested it during professional meetings, as well as workshops. As a remote guest, you will appreciate being able to turn your head (the screen…), in order to look at each participant face-to-face. Even the fact of being able to, quite simply, move around the conference room to have a separate discussion.
You will be able to offer a self service of your Double robots on several of your sites. An employee in Geneva will simply be able to find out the availability of a robot in New York, and use it remotely to get in contact with a colleague, by moving around the offices.
And we love the double, simply because it means we can stay connected with our friends and family abroad, by sending them an invitation via email, for them to connect to the Double at the agreed time and date.
Its uses are infinite, so it's up to you to find ideas for staying connected!
  • Stay connected with your friends at home!
  • Its use during workshops or professional meetings
  • The invitation of a remote presenter for your conference or school
  • The last-minute substitute for the person who can no longer travel to your event
  • The « Frequent Business Traveller », who wishes to stay in contact with his family
  • A child on a foreign language trip
  • A child who can no longer get to school due to illness or to an accident
  • Surveillance and presence for the aged
  • Remote museum visits
  • Remote house viewings

We love Scentee Balloon! Just download the Scentee application for iPhone or Android, connect the Scentee Balloon to the headphone socket of your smartphone, and configure the App for it to diffuse the perfume of your choice for every Facebook notification (message and Like) or email received.
You can adjust the duration of the diffusion of the perfume, and you can configure which email account and the number of Likes that will generate the diffusion of your rose, strawberry, coffee, lavender or rosemary fragrance!
An original gift idea, to share with a friend* and to stay in touch on a scented note!

Change your LinkedIn password immediately!

Yesterday evening, I was reading a blog post from Zdnet regarding the LinkedIn potential password threat and stupidly just tweeted about it... but I should have taken contingency action by immediately changing mine!

This morning, I logged into LinkedIn and the following message was displayed on my LinkedIn homepage... thanks guys for screwing up my password.... anyway, thanks for reminding me that when I read a security threat about a service I use, I should immediately react and take appropriate steps to secure my data privacy.

One thing I have been doing for a long time and recommend to all of you, is using different passwords for all, yes, I mean all, the services you use. Nevertheless, the risk is that you start to write down all different passwords and if one day, someone get access to it, he will get access to all at the same time. Of course, you can use several solutions which should encrypt and keep secure your passwords in one  place, but my approach is slightly different!

I have prepare some kind of rule/algorithm (not written anywhere, except in my mind), which I use every time and every where I need a new password. Providing me all the time different passwords easy to remember, but difficult to guess. Last but least, if I forget it, I can get back to my rule/algorithm and regenerate it without any problem!

Of course, I am not going to explain how I have prepared my rule/algorithm, so think about yours, try to be creative and chose something you can easily remember to generate/calculate your passwords in case you have a bad memory. Be careful, not only letters or numbers, but rather a combination of letters, numbers and symbols!

Call me schizophrenic if you want, but today, I know that even if I have been a bit lazy not to change my LinkedIn password yesterday, hackers wouldn't get much more out of it by now!

More about this security threat at LinkedIn.

Solving Gmail IMAP empty inbox in Apple Mail 5

Man! Took me a long evening and finally a portion of this morning to solve the following issue between my Google Apps Gmail Account synchronized with the Apple Mail 5 client over IMAP...

When creating the account, I had briefly seen my messages in my Google Apps account's inbox, but then the rest of the account folders were displaying the messages, I couldn't see the messages anymore neither in the account's inbox folder nor in the All accounts' combined inbox...

I had found several instructions how to setup the Gmail account and also others complaining about this issue, but nothing to solve it. Of course, start with the following instructions to setup Apple Mail 4, they are the same for the version 5. Nevertheless, if you cannot see the messages in the inbox, despite showing in your gmail account through your favorite browser, check this:

  1. Check in Apple Mail whether you have sub-folders below the inbox (you will have a small little triangle on the left of the inbox icon).
  2. If you have those sub-folders, go to gmail directly and check whether you have label's names which start with inbox/something.
  3. If that's the case, in many cases, they have been created out of previous migration from another client e.g. Outlook migrated to Gmail... they are considered as sub-folders in IMAP and it seems that Apple Mail is lost and cannot retrieve the inbox content in the such case.
  4. So from Gmail, select all related messages tagged with this label and move them to another folder.
  5. Once done, get back to Apple Mail, and select the menu Mailbox - Rebuild
  6. Your inbox should start displaying your messages and same for the combined inboxes
  7. Enjoy!

Switching for Apple

Last Friday, I have took the decision to move to Apple... instead of buying my traditional PC laptop to run Windows and Ubuntu Linux, I have acquired a MacBook pro 17"! What a change...

Of course, it will better synchronize with my iPhone, might make me a bit nervous with my Asus tf201 tablet (yes, still on android), but overall, should be a good decision.

- powerful laptop and most likely longer life than my previous PCs...
- nice and big screen to work on many apps, such as spreadsheets and project plans.
- didn't need an ultrabook, given that I have my tablet when being on the road.
- should play nicely within my cloud services and devices
- nicer than all the other PCs design that I have seen ever, while asus might step by step come in the right direction.

So now, I need to get the software I need to run my business...
- a project management application
- a scrum project management application
- a visio-like application
- a small CRM
- an accounting and business management application suite (applicable to the Swiss legislation and best practices)

And of course, the CRM solution should sync with my contacts on Google apps. Best will be to have both PM and Scrum apps working on my Android tablet....

Stay tuned and of course if anyone has any feedback or recommendations, will be greatly appreciated!

Have you screw-up your display on Ubuntu after installing NVidia driver?

I am running Ubuntu 11.10 on a Lenovo T410, and tried to install the Nvidia driver without success! Worst, after the reboot, I was getting a blank screen... tried to fix the Nvidia driver through the console without success to date.

At least I have been able to recover the old config by renaming the xorg.conf file and rebooting.

sudo mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.nvidia

and removed the driver

sudo apt-get purge nvidia-settings nvidia-current

and rebooted

Fixed! :-)

Now that I know how to get my screen back in order, will try to install the Nvidia driver later on when I have some spare time.

Another and easier option to develop iPhone apps?

Did you know that you have another option to develop iPhone apps than Obj-C?

If you have previous experience with Adobe Flex, you should give a try to the ELIPS Studio from Openplug, which let you compile your apps for most mobile OS, such as iPhone, Android, Symbian and Windows mobile

I am not, anymore..., a developer, so I am hoping someone could give me some feedback on how performant this dev platform is.

BTW, Alcatel-Lucent has just acquired OpenPlug, so must be worth the investment...

The Rise of Generation C: Implications for the world of 2020

In the course of the next 10 years, a new generation—Generation C—will emerge (the 'C' stands for connect, communicate, change). Born after 1990, these 'digital natives,' just now beginning to attend university and enter the workforce, will transform the world as we know it.

Business workers will self-organise into agile communities of interest, always connected, will bring their personal computers to work and travelling much less frequently given all the solutions to collaborate more quickly and instantly.

Thanks Matt Colyer and libiteam, you made my day... next step being installing, testing and then you will have made my life much easier.

Tech debate: Google Gmail vs. hosted Microsoft Exchange

Source: Jonathan McCormick and Daniel Riley, Network World - March 08, 2010 12:08 AM ET

More and more businesses are looking to hosted e-mail services to reduce costs and ease management, and the choice often comes down to Google's Gmail (the key component of Google Apps) or a hosted version of Microsoft Exchange...
